UCA Co-Hosts Food Security Conference
08 April 2014, Bishkek, Kyrgyz Republic - On 8-9 April 2014, the University of Central Asia (UCA) and the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) hosted a regional research conference on Agricultural Transformation and Food Security in Central Asia in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. Government officials, development partners, and researchers from the region and abroad engaged in cross-country dialogues, and identified knowledge gaps related to agricultural and structural transformation and food security policy in Central Asia.

Change the World Around You! Winners Receive Awards
17 January 2014, Bishkek, Kyrgyz Republic - Winners of the ‘Change the World Around You!’ social entrepreneurship competition received grants awarded by the Coca Cola Foundation to implement innovative projects across the Kyrgyz Republic at a ceremony at the University of Central Asia (UCA) in Bishkek on 17 January 2014. The six young entrepreneurs will use skills acquired during their UCA social entrepreneurship training programme.

Institute of Public Policy and Administration Hosts Policy-Making Process in Government Symposium
15 January 2014, Bishkek, Kyrgyz Republic - The University of Central Asia’s Institute of Public Policy and Administration (UCA-IPPA) hosted a symposium on Policy-Making Process in Government in the Kyrgyz Republic on 24 December 2013. It is the first in a series which will take place in the Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan and Afghanistan.

The University of Central Asia Hosts International Mountain Day Events
15 January 2014, Bishkek, Kyrgyz Republic - The University of Central Asia and the Mountain Partnership Central Asian Hub hosted two events to celebrate International Mountain Day in Bishkek, Kyrgyz Republic. International Mountain Day (11 December)  is observed annually by Mountain Partnership members across the world.   Since 2010, the Mountain Partnership Central Asian Hub, which is hosted by UCA, has coordinated the annual celebration in Central Asia with support from the Swiss Development Cooperation. A Food Revolution event highlighted the growing prevalence of malnutrition in mountain regions. A panel on Mountains: Key to a Sustainable Future brought together stakeholders to assess progress in social development.

UCA and GIZ Bring Mobile Digital Library to Naryn and Ak-Talaa Districts in the Kyrgyz Republic
12 December 2013, Naryn, Kyrgyz Republic - The eBilim mobile digital library was inaugurated at the University of Central Asia (UCA) School for Professional and Continuing Education in Naryn. eBilim is a one-year pilot project designed to bring information and resources to communities in remote villages in Naryn Oblast. "Bilim" means knowledge in the Kyrgyz language. "e" indicates electronic media. "eBilim" brings together two important components of the project: locally accessible knowledge and current technology and media. The project is being implemented through a partnership between UCA’s Mountain Societies Research Institute (MSRI) and the Mountain Societies Development Support Programme (MSDSP), with financial support from the German Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH.
