Anel worked with UNICEF Kazakhstan and ILO-IPEC as a national consultant on child protection and child labour monitoring.   Before joining UNICEF, she worked with Counterpart International as a regional reporting coordinator. In 2009, Anel received a Fulbright Scholarship for graduate studies in the USA. She also spent six months at Justus-Liebig Universitat Giessen, Germany, conducting research on protection mechanisms for working children in Central Asia.
