Maksim has worked with ‘Counterpart-Sheriktesh,’ assisting in implementation of the Establishment of Educational and Legal Centres in Chui and Jalalabat oblasts of the Kyrgyz Republic project. He worked with the Bashat Community-based Foundation  and coordinated the implementation of the snow leopard conservation and research programme, and has been involved in various ecological projects. His research focuses on land use and soil erosion.
