UBC Partners Visit Central Asia
The University of British Columbia’s (UBC) Geography and Earth, Ocean and Atmospheric Sciences departments, are assisting UCA to design 22 Earth and Environmental Sciences (EES) courses for its undergraduate programme. Four UBC representatives visited UCA in Khorog, Bishkek, and Naryn from May 5th to 25th as part of a contextualisation visit for the EES programme.

UBC Partners Visit Central Asia In Tajikistan, the UBC team explored Alichur, Langar, Darshai and Khorog to scope out potential sites for field trips. In addition, they met with UCA students, as well as various UCA and external experts including from UCA’s MSRI, Mountain Societies Development Support Programme Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan and the Pamir Biological Institute. In Bishkek, Phil Hammer from UBC attended meetings with organisations working closely with the environment, including the Aarhus Centre, and the Central Asian Institute for Applied Geosciences.
