The Central Asian Faculty Development Programme (CAFDP) of the University of Central Asia (UCA) is pleased to announce its 2011-12 scholarship recipients for doctoral studies at leading universities around the world. Ten scholars from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic and Tajikistan have received scholarships to attend doctoral programmes at universities in Canada, Germany and the United Kingdom:  Five in the sciences and five in the humanities and social sciences.  Of these, two are continuing Fellows who have successfully completed their masters degrees under CAFDP.

CAFDP scholarships are awarded to qualifying candidates from Central Asia interested in an academic career at UCA, and are based on partnerships with universities in Asia, Europe and North America, and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). “This cohort joins UCA’s CAFDP network of over 30 enrolled Fellows and alumni. This dynamic and talented group of students is engaged in a variety of disciplines that reflect UCA’s academic and research priorities, and represent the future academic community of the University,” said Dr Urmat Tynaliev, Manager of the CAFDP.
