Abstract
This lecture will describe the framework, contents and utility of a unique resource, the English-Russian Glossary of Terms and Concepts in Public and Economic Policy, Administration and Trade, by presenter Oleksandr Kiliievych. The glossary was produced under the Regional Cooperation and Confidence Building in Central Asia and Afghanistan project implemented by the University of Central Asia’s Institute of Public Policy and Administration, with support from the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, Canada.

The glossary is a unique resource for the region, bringing together, in both Russian and English, concepts and terms used in public policy, policy analysis, economic policy, international trade and economics to facilitate understanding and clarity by actors in government, universities and civil society.

First published by the University of Central Asia in 2009, this 2013 second expanded edition incorporates issues related to international trade and trade policy, and international economics and competitiveness. Public policy is a new field in the countries of the former Soviet Union, and Russian terminology has yet to be established and standardised. This glossary will be an important resource in this process, and in  facilitating international understanding and dialogue on policy and economic issues.
