17 September 2016, Naryn, Kyrgyz Republic - Phase I construction of the University of Central Asia’s first undergraduate residential campus in Naryn, Kyrgyz Republic is complete. UCA’s 12,200m2 facilities include an Academic block (housing a library, dining hall, laboratories, classrooms, faculty offices and faculty housing) and a dormitory with three wings. The first phase of building accommodates up to 150 students; at full capacity, the Naryn Campus will span 125,000m2 and accommodate 1,200 students.
16 September 2016, Khorog, Tajikistan - UCA has begun the construction of Phase I of its second undergraduate residential campus in Khorog, Tajikistan. Alongside a $64.4 million commitment from the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN), including $7.5 million from the Aga Khan Foundation, Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC), the United States Government’s development finance institution has extended $30 million to complete Phase I construction of its Khorog campus. The Khorog Phase I facilities include a three-storey academic building (housing a library, classrooms, computer lab, student space, cafe, administrative offices, with faculty offices and housing), a laboratory, student life building and a student dormitory with three wings.
10 August 2016, Royal Beach Resort in Kyrgyz Republic’s Issyk Kul region - The University of Central Asia (UCA) recognised the achievements of the Second Annual Summer Camp’s 73 participants in a closing ceremony at the Royal Beach Resort in Kyrgyz Republic’s Issyk Kul region on 8 August 2016. Over three weeks, UCA hosted top students from Tajikistan, the Kyrgyz Republic and Kazakhstan at the innovative Summer Camp, an integrated academic enrichment experience for Grade 10 students. Summer Camp participants shared new experiences and built friendships through science, debate, sports, drama and field trips, where they gained valuable experience practicing English-language skills and studying collaboratively.
