Third Annual Football Tournament Commemorates Kyrgyz Independence Day
11 September 2014, Naryn, Kyrgyz Republic - UCA hosted its third annual football tournament at its main Naryn campus from 29 to 31 August 2014. Following the inaugural 2012 tournament marking the opening of its international standard sports facilities, the University brings together teams for an annual friendly competition as part of Kyrgyz Independence Day celebrations in Naryn. This year, six teams participated in the tournament and three new awards were presented in addition to the champion’s trophy.

UCA Campus Construction in Naryn
10 September 2014, Naryn, Kyrgyz Republic - The Naryn campus construction site is buzzing with activity. Onsite construction equipment is churning out materials. Worksite facilities are up and running, including a sustainably insulated office extension, surrounded by green landscaping. The welfare facility is bustling with employees gathering in the dining hall to enjoy meals prepared in the commercial kitchen. Some visit the medical facility. The University’s phase I campus is beginning to take shape. Foundations have been laid for the dormitories. Metal structures are now rising from the foundations of the academic block, providing a skeletal view of this multi-functional building, which will house classrooms, laboratories, the library, the dining hall and faculty housing.

UCA Offers Certificate Programme in Policy Analysis in Dushanbe, Tajikistan
02 September 2014, Dushanbe, Tajikistan - The University of Central Asia’s Institute of Public Policy and Administration (IPPA) and the Institute of Public Administration (IPA) under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan are offering a Certificate Programme in Policy Analysis in Dushanbe, Tajikistan. Developed with Carleton University’s School of Public Policy and Administration, the programme is targeted to civil servants, independent analysts and staff at think-tanks and non-governmental organisations who wish to acquire skills to advance evidence-based policy analysis. The programme is offered in a flexible format to accommodate working professionals. Taught by highly qualified staff, it is the first of its kind in the region.

Summer School on Labour Markets in Central Asia
11 August 2014, Issyk-Kul, Kyrgyz Republic -
UCA’s Institute of Public Policy and Administration and the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) conducted a summer school on Labour Markets in Central Asia from 13 to 25 July 2014 in Issyk Kul, Kyrgyz Republic. Twenty participants from Central Asia learnt key themes of labour economics, discussed labour market issues and were introduced to relevant research and policy analysis methods. Sessions included lectures, class discussions, group work and data analysis exercises. 
The programme was part of the Gender and Labour Markets in Central Asia project funded by the Institute for the Study of Labor and the United Kingdom Government Department for International Development through the Growth and Labour Markets in Low Income Countries Programme (GLM | LIC).

Kyrgyz Prime Minister Visits UCA Naryn Campus Site
06 June 2014, Naryn, Kyrgyz Republic - On 6 June 2014, Kyrgyz Prime Minister Joomart Otorbayev visited UCA’s Naryn campus site and was briefed on construction progress. Speaking to the media at the site, the Prime Minister said: “The University of Central Asia is a large and ambitious project. Construction, including faculty buildings and dormitories, is progressing alongside academic operations. Overall, this investment will bring socio-economic development to Naryn and the region and the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic will support and look forward to its future developments.”.
