UCA’s Central Asian Faculty Development Programme Announces 2010 – 2011 Awards
UCA’s Central Asian Faculty Development Programme (CAFDP) was established to ensure that academics from Central Asian with top international credentials are strongly represented in the University’s faculty. Through partnerships with universities around the world, CAFDP offers opportunities for Central Asian students interested in academic appointments at UCA to pursue studies at the doctoral and masters level (as preparation for doctoral studies).  CAFDP offers two avenues of support:

66 teachers complete civil service training with UCA
The last group of 18 instructors has completed their Training of Trainers under the Certificate Programme Local Economic and Community Development developed by the School of Professional and Continuing Education (SPCE), the first operational education programmeme of the University of Central Asia (UCA).

University of Central Asia and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) Renew Cooperation in Higher Education
The University of Central Asia (UCA) and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) have agreed to extend cooperation in higher education for over the next three years through the renewal of a Memorandum of Understanding between the two institutions.

UCA Presents Awards at First Annual Joint SPCE-AKHP Graduation in Dushanbe
On June 18 2010, UCA’s School of Professional and Continuing Education (SPCE) Dushanbe campus and the Aga Khan Humanities Project held their first annual joint graduation ceremony in Dushanbe. The ceremony recognized the achievements over 300 learners in the fields of Accounting, English for Business, Humanities in English, and IT.

UCA Assists with Aid to Southern Kyrgyzstan
University of Central Asia employees were profoundly saddened by the killings and wanton destruction that occurred in the south of Kyrgyzstan. In solidarity with communities that suffered, employees made contributions from their salaries to purchase and ship 2.5 tonnes of medical supplies and food that was distributed to Uzbek and Kyrgyz families, with additional provisions for orphaned children.

UCA visits Teacher Training College (TTC) in Shugnan, Afghanistan
On 14 June, UCA Director General Dr. Bohdan Krawchenko and SPCE staff visited the Teacher Training College in Shughnan, Afghanistan, where UCA is implementing a cross-border grant funded through the Aga Khan Foundation of Afghanistan. Dr. Krawchenko met with TTC staff and toured the facilities, including the newly refurbished computer lab where 200 students will receive training in IT.

UCA Presents Awards at Fourth SPCE Graduation in Khorog
On 12 June 2010, UCA’s School of Professional and Continuing Education (SPCE) Khorog campus held its fourth annual graduation ceremony in Khorog Park. The ceremony recognized the achievements over 300 learners in the fields of Accounting, English for Business, IT, Mountain Tour Operators and Mountain Guides, English in the Villages, and Technical and Vocational Education (TVET) trades.

The first cohort of instructors have completed their training of trainers under the program "Recruitment of New Generation Managers into Public and Municipal Service" on June 5, 2010. The School of Professional and Continuing Education (SPCE), the first operational education programme of the University of Central Asia (UCA) provided its expertise to support the initiative.
