Shirinbek Davlatmamadov
Herbal Practitioner, Master-Category Surgeon, Member of the Association of Traditional Practitioners of the Republic of Tajikistan

Herbal therapy is treatment with medicinal herbs. Medicinal herbs and chemically synthesised medicines have one major difference – that is, medicinal plants can be used for an extended period of time without causing any side effects. However, before turning to medicinal herbs, one should find out which plants are good for humans, and learn about plants’ dosage and on-treatment periods. Herbal practitioners should also know about exact seasons to collect herbs; and be proficient in drying and storing medicinal plants.
Badakhshan has more than 80 varieties of medicinal herbs that are approved and recommended by modern medicine. The lecture will provide short descriptions of plants, their range of application, chemical compositions, medicinal properties, collection seasons, forms of administration (tincture, tea, or dried product), and side effects.

In 1964, Shirinbek Davlatmamadov graduated from A. Sino Medical Institute and started his professional career as a doctor in Ishkashim Hospital. In 1974, he began working as a Doctor for Khorog Oblast Hospital. In 1973, the Ministry of Healthcare certified him as “Category-1 Surgeon” and as a “Master-Category Surgeon” in 1979. From 1992 to 2005, he was the Head Physician of the Rehabilitation Clinic under Avdj Mineral Springs in Ishkashim Rayon. In 2006, Davlatmamadov was elected as the Chairperson of “Djamshed” Limited Liability Company; and in 2010 as the Chairperson of “Gulu Giyokh” (Flowers and Herbs) non-government organisation.
