These include principles of sustainable urban development, introduction of the urban regeneration and transformation ideas as well as public participation in the planning process, to name just a few.  At the same time professionals and authorities responsible for planning have noticed that in the age of globalization the competition between cities is constantly increasing. Therefore, cities are in search for various solutions allowing them to gain better position in this competitive process.
