Badakhshan TV: Visit to the University of Central Asia in Khorog
Date: 14 October 2019
The University of Central Asia’s (UCA) Khorog campus was featured on Badakhshan TV’s weekly tourist destination programme on September 19th. The special broadcast featured UCA’s Central Asian and international students and staff, including their work, experience and life at UCA and in the Badakhshan region. UCA students and staff spoke about their experiences visiting different places around Badakhshan, and about their strong relationship with the community. The programme also highlights the development of UCA in Khorog.
“My home country is the United States, and my home state is Hawaii. This setting is very different from the island states of Hawaii, but there are some similarities,” commented Genevieve Balderston, Assistant Professor in English at UCA. “For example, it is very beautiful here and there is a blue sky almost every day. Through the summer and winter months, I am lucky to experience the beautiful mountains all around the campus, and the local residents have been very welcoming. Here in Khorog, I have met the most friendly and hospitable people than any place I have ever been.”
