UCA Welcomes Undergraduate Class of 2023
Eighty-one incoming preparatory and undergraduate students arrived at UCA's campuses in Naryn and Khorog for orientation week in August. Students represent seven countries including Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iran and Syria.

Faculty Development Programme Launches New Academic Year
Feeling rejuvenated by the summer break, with plenty of reading, writing, and research time during the holidays, UCA’s faculty at the School of Arts and Sciences (SAS) were keen to arrive back to campus. A Faculty Development Programme was organised from August 16-18 in Naryn for 30 faculty members from both the Naryn and Khorog campuses.

New Faculty Join UCA
UCA’s School of Arts and Sciences (SAS) undergraduate programme is entering its third year since opening in September 2016. This year, students will begin pre-requisite courses for their undergraduate specialisation majors. As the institution continues to grow, new faculty are coming on board.

AKHP Cup Debaters Put their Skills to the Test
Over 100 debaters from Khujand, Kulyab and Khorog in Tajikistan and students from UCA’s campuses in Khorog and Naryn gathered in Dushanbe to test their debating skills on August 4-5. The annual debate tournament was organised by UCA’s Aga Khan Humanities Project (AKHP) to promote collaboration between debaters of Tajikistan, and also enhance the debate skills  of the participants. This year, it was dedicated to the sixth anniversary of AKHP’s Debate Club.

Co-operative Education at UCA: Blazing a New Trail in Central Asia
Co-operative education is a new concept in Central Asia. UCA's Co-operative Education Programme creates opportunities for students to gain hands-on work experience via structured job placements during three consecutive summers of their five-year course of study. UCA staff met with various employers and attracted 145 placement options for 68 undergraduate students across 16 cities in 5 countries: Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Pakistan and Afghanistan. The students had an opportunity to apply for placements in fields such as communications and marketing, monitoring and evaluation, business, finance, IT, geographic information systems, project management, research, human resources, and education.

New Archaeological Finds on Naryn Campus
The University of Central Asia’s (UCA) Naryn Campus was buzzing with activity as a team from Indiana University (IU) in the USA and the American University of Central Asia (AUCA) highlighted their latest findings. Based on archaeological research over the 6 years on the sites Aigyrzhal-2 and 3 located on UCA's Naryn Campus, it was revealed that the Naryn Valley has a long history of human occupation.

Certificate Programme in Economic Policy
The University of Central Asia's (UCA) Institute of Public Policy and Administration (IPPA) launched a new seven-month Certificate Programme in Economic Policy (CPEP) for thirty-six Kyrgyz citizens in May.

UCA Rector on Board
The University of Central Asia (UCA) is pleased to announce the appointment of its founding Rector. Prof. Dr. S. Sohail H. Naqvi joined the University on August 2nd, and as part of his orientation will be visiting the University’s programmes and activities in the three Founding States of Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Kazakhstan.
