The lecture will discuss Chokan Valikhanov, a Kazakh scientist and outstanding historical figure, and his famous expedition to Kashgaria from 1864 to 1865. The lecturer will share little-known facts about Valikhanov’s difficult travel, his discoveries and achievements, as well as some interesting facts that are associated with how Chokan Valikhanov passed away. The lecturer will present conclusions based on his own field research, and studies of academic literature.

Genetically Modified Organisms (GMO) are organisms that are artificially impregnated with genetic materials from other animal organisms that help improve the characteristics of the original organism (energy value; pest, disease or weather resistance, accelerated ripening, extended shelf-life, improved productivity) in order to decrease production costs. The lecture will discuss GMO’s negative and positive effects on the human organism, as well as alternative ways to address the problem.
