Aigul Kantoro is a graduate student at the University of Alberta, Canada within the Digital Humanities Program, Department of Media and Technology Studies. The program integrates computational methods and theories with research and teaching in the Liberal Arts. She is a recipient of  the Central Asian Faculty Development Programme (CAFDP) established by the University of Central Asia (UCA) to support advanced degrees. In addition to being master’s student, she volunteers with Teens Learning Code Edmonton and University of Alberta’s Sexual Assault Centre. Prior to an advanced degree at the University of Alberta, Aigul has worked for educational institutions in the marginalized and mountainous regions of Kyrgyz Republic. She completed her bachelor degree in International Relations from the Kyrgyzstan-Turkey Manas University. Her research interests lie in exploring how the phenomena of data privacy and protection manifest in digital spaces.
