Students must submit one recommendation form from their Mathematics instructor and one recommendation form from their English instructor, ideally in English. The recommendation form from the Mathematics teacher can also be in Russian.

The purpose of the interview is:

  1. To gain a more complete picture of the applicant’s personal and academic goals, career aspirations and reasons for major choice
  2. To evaluate the applicant’s fit for the program
  3. To evaluate the applicant’s verbal skills (ability to understand verbal information and respond) to function successfully in an English medium instruction environment as well as reasoning and critical thinking abilities.

Each applicant will be interviewed by prospective program faculty to evaluate the applicant’s fit to the program, and department faculty to assess the applicant’s verbal communication skills and critical thinking skills.

The interview by the program faculty will be a combination of evaluative and informational interviews.

The evaluative interview is intended to gain insights into the applicant’s academic goals, career aspirations, reasons for major choice, major-related activities, and academic achievements related to their major.

The informative interview is intended to provide the applicant the opportunity to ask the interviewer major-related questions so that the applicant gains more information about the chosen major beyond what is in UCA’s website and brochures/booklets.

The webinar recording is provided here.
