Graphics Designer

The Graphics Designer is a key member of the Design and Media function of UCA’s Advancement and Public Affairs Department. Primary responsibilities include leading the production of the visual identity of all communications and marketing materials (internal, external, printed or web-based) developed for the University in accordance with UCA Corporate Design Guidelines; and updating and disseminating the Guidelines as the institution evolves.

UCA is looking for a strong and seasoned Graphics Designer. However, as a member of a small team, you may be called upon from time to time to showcase other visual communication skills such as photography/videography and media production. The Designer reports to the Senior Graphics Design and Media Production Coordinator.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Serve as custodian of UCA Corporate Design and Style guidelines.
  • Upkeep the design integrity of all UCA communications materials.
  • Review and provide feedback on UCA communications materials developed by UCA campuses and departments.
  • Design UCA collaterals (not limited to reports, leaflets, brochures, posters, cards, flyers, presentation, and other materials) for both internal and external audiences.
  • Maintain and organize UCA’s media archive.
  • From time to time provide professional photography services.
  • Assign and maintain quality of external photography, design, printing, videography and other resources and services.
  • Identify and conduct basic design training sessions for staff.
  • Coordinate UI/UX design development of UCA’s website and email marketing services (Mailchimp, Figma, Tilda).

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • At least 3-5 years of experience in the design field in a corporate or university setting.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, especially: Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Lightroom, After Effects, and Premier Pro.
  • Understanding of video production including shooting and editing.
  • Advanced knowledge in motion design.
  • In-depth working knowledge of Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Telegram and other platforms.
  • Basic knowledge of HTML/CSS.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Advanced skills in developing materials across design and office applications.
  • Excellent visual communications skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a design project as part of a wider communications activities.
  • Ability to identify and develop long-term visual and design strategies.
  • Personal integrity and good judgement.
  • Flexibility to travel within Central Asia as needed.
  • Excellent photography skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of English and Russian is required. Knowledge of at least one national language is an asset.
