The Institute of Public Policy and Administration (IPPA) was established in 2011 to strengthen public policy in Central Asia. It provides in-depth analysis on current and emerging policy issues facing the region and improves the analytical capacity of governments and civil society to use evidence in decision-making processes through professional development. In the full-time position of a Junior Research Fellow with the University of Central Asia’s Institute of Public Policy and Administration, the JRF will be assisting and contributing to IPPA’s research projects in economic and social studies, with implementing research, training and dissemination activities of IPPA projects.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

The scope of work in accordance with these terms of reference include, but not limited to the following:

  • Design layout for IPPA Research papers and reports via Adobe InDesig upon request;
  • Assist IPPA project staff in its various functions, including project support, document drafting and research assistance;
  • Collect and process qualitative and quantitative information related to the economic and social development of the Central Asian countries through desk research and relevant communications with national and international stakeholders;
  • Update material on a regular basis for the University’s electronic library and databases.

Required Qualifications and Experience

The Junior Research Fellow should be a professional with a minimum of 2 years’ experience. The candidate should bring to the position:

  • BA or MA degree in the field of social sciences.
  • Competence in using MS Office applications, Adobe InDesign, and other professional software.
  • Report writing skills.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English; knowledge of Russian would be an asset.
  • Good interpersonal and communications skill particularly in dealing with people from different backgrounds on a day-to-day context.
  • Responsive, anticipative, good attention to details, organized, systematic.
