Jonathan Cartmell joined UCA as Director of Human Resources in April 2022. Prior to joining UCA, Mr Cartmell was Vice President International at Brac University, Bangladesh.
In total, Mr Cartmell has fifteen years of experience working in senior leadership roles in the international higher education sector, gained in West Asia, South Asia, and the South Pacific Region. This includes ten-year service with Georgetown University, during which he played an integral role in establishing and developing this highly regarded US University’s operations in the Middle East, via its campus in Doha, Qatar. Prior to joining Georgetown in 2006, Mr Cartmell worked in senior HR management roles for a number of progressive multinational companies, including Unilever, Rank Group and FedEx.
He has an MBA (Macquarie), PG Diploma in Human Resource Management (Strathclyde) and BA (Durham). He is also a Fellow of the Australian Human Resources Institute (FCPHR) and a Chartered Fellow of the Institute of Personnel and Development (FCIPD – UK). He is currently completing a DBA in Higher Education Management (Bath).
