Centre for Teaching, Learning & Technology

Grounded in UCA’s unique context of a residential university with campuses in remote mountain regions, the Centre for Teaching, Learning & Technology (CTLT) provides support to all those who teach at UCA and promotes teaching practices that are relevant to the UCA learning environment and circumstances.  

CTLT supports UCA teaching that leads to transformational and meaningful learning, and, ultimately, to students' success.

About CTLT

UCA’s Centre for Teaching, Learning & Technology (CTLT) was established in 2021 to provide support to all those who teach at UCA and promote teaching practices that are relevant to UCA learning environment and circumstances. 

CTLT supports:

programme enhancement initiatives, and supports emerging, grassroots investigations of novel approaches to teaching, learning and assessment. 

Vision

To be an innovative centre that plays a strategic role in all areas of teaching, learning and technology in order to realize UCA’s vision and mission and to offer, across a variety of learning formats which enable knowledgeable, skilled, and creative graduates.  

We prepare workshops, courses, online modules, links to resources and one-on-one consultation about all aspects of teaching including course and assessment design, lesson planning, active learning strategies, student engagement and the integration of technology tools into teaching. The work of the Center is evidence based and grounded in the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) research.

The Centre for Teaching, Learning, and Technology (CTLT) at the University of Central Asia (UCA) has been actively providing and participating in workshops and discussions focused on the transformative impact of Generative Artificial Intelligence (Gen AI). These initiatives aim to equip UCA’s faculty and staff with the knowledge and skills to effectively integrate Gen AI into teaching, learning, and research. By staying abreast of the latest developments in AI, CTLT ensures that UCA remains at the forefront of AI-driven innovation, enhancing educational practices and advancing its mission across Central Asia.

The Centre for Teaching, Learning, and Technology (CTLT) at the University of Central Asia (UCA) continuously provides workshops on Moodle for the School of Arts and Sciences (SAS), School of Professional and Continuing Education (SPCE), and Graduate School of Development (GSD) across Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, and Tajikistan. These workshops, tailored for beginners, intermediate, and advanced users, are part of UCA’s ongoing commitment to its digitalization strategy and the enhancement of human capital within the university. By equipping faculty and staff with essential digital skills and tools, CTLT is strengthening the university’s capacity for technological innovation in education, furthering UCA’s mission to advance learning and development across Central Asia.
