Mehmonsho Sharifov

Mehmonsho Sharifov is a Senior Lecturer of Social Sciences and Humanities based at UCA’s Naryn campus. Mehmonsho holds a bachelor’s degree in History from Tajik State University and a Master’s degree in Islamic Studies from the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London.

Currently, he is a PhD student at the department of Social Anthropology of the University of Bergen. Mehmonsho is working on research as a PhD Fellow studying the Pamir region of Tajikistan. The thesis entitled “To Whom does the Willayat Belong? Resistance and Control in Badakshan of Tajikistan” is an analysis of local traditions and socio-religious and political concepts among people in the Badakshan region.

Mehmonsho has more than 20 years of experience in research and social sciences, and has participated in the development and completion of the curriculum of several courses at the Aga Khan Humanities Project of UCA.
