Janyl Ismailova is Urban Resilience Project Manager at the Graduate School of Development of UCA. She oversees the coordination of the management and implementation of the various project streams, in collaboration with the respective overall project management teams, based in Naryn, Kyrgyzstan and Khorog, Tajikistan. Together with other departments and schools of UCA, and partner agencies of AKDN, GSD is involved in implementing Urban Resilience Programmes in Naryn (NURP) and Khorog (KURP) and plays a particularly important role in capacity-building and executive training provision in each of these projects.

Janyl previously held the position of a Research Fellow at the UCA’s Mountain Societies Research Institute where she coordinated local and regional development projects. She also led MSRI’s e-Bilim Mobile Digital Library project, guided implementation of MSRI's knowledge management platforms and supported the execution of the Naryn baseline study as well as subsequent surveys and monitoring activities in remote areas.

Her interests include development and underdevelopment, usage of educational technologies in underdeveloped regions, EdTech and ICTs for development. Janyl holds a BA degree in International and Comparative Politics from the American University of Central Asia. She is also a Lehigh University the Global Village for Future Leaders of Business and Industry Program alumna.
