The University of Central Asia's Institute of Public Policy and Administration and the World Bank are pleased to announce an upcoming presentation of the Kyrgyz Republic Economic Update (Fall 2019). This is part of a semi-annual series designed to monitor economic developments in the Kyrgyz Republic.

Abstract
The World Bank presentation will provide an overview of the Kyrgyz economic performance in 2019, highlighting some of the macroeconomic vulnerabilities the country is exposed to, and will share our growth projections for 2020 and 2021. The special topic for this Economic Update is on “Public Investment Management” focusing on the challenges facing the project selection, appraisal, implementation, and the supportive role the government should play.
Biographies
Ms. Appolenia Mbowe is a Senior Country Economist for the Kyrgyz Republic based in Bishkek. Before joining the World Bank, she worked with the Africa Development Bank and the Central Bank of Tanzania. She obtained a master’s degree in Economics from the University of Manchester in the United Kingdom.
Mr. Bakyt Dubashov is a Senior Country Economist for the Kyrgyz Republic based in Bishkek. Before joining the World Bank, he worked as an Economist at the IMF office in Bishkek. Prior to that, he worked at the National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic. Mr. Dubashov holds a master’s degree in Economics from the University of Colorado at Boulder in the United States.
