UCA’s School of Professional and Continuing Education (SPCE) in Dushanbe held a graduation ceremony to celebrate the achievements of 153 graduates of the “English for Ministries and Civil Servants” and “English for Journalists” programmes. The graduation ceremony was graced by distinguished guests including H.E. Qozidavlat Qoimdodov, Resident Representative of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) in Tajikistan; Carrie Lee, Chargé d'Affaires US Embassy in Dushanbe; and Farrukhsho Fraidonov, SPCE Tajikistan Country Head.

These programmes were implemented with the support from the US Embassy in Dushanbe. They aimed to enhance the English language skills of government employees and media professionals for communication in job-related events and daily work tasks.  The graduates successfully completed various levels of English for communication, English for academic purposes, English for the media, and preparation for the international TOEFL examination.

Congratulating the learners on their achievements, Carrie Lee thanked SPCE for the successful implementation of the project: “We appreciate the long-standing cooperation between the U.S. Embassy and the School of Professional and Continuing Education of the University of Central Asia. I would especially like to thank the English for Journalists and English for Civil Servants teams, including teachers, for your continued dedication to these projects over the past two years”.

Since the inception of these projects, SPCE has trained more than 400 employees of various ministries and state committees, including Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Internal Affairs, Education and Science, Energy and Water Resources, Labor and Immigration, Health and Social Protection of the Population, as well as representatives from the Majlisi Namoyandagon (Parliament).

Following the decree of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, on the study of foreign languages, the leadership of AKDN and UCA are striving to support representatives of government institutions in enhancing their language skills with the aim of supporting their professional development and increasing their ability to communicate with international counterparts,” – noted H.E. Qozidavlat Qoimdodov, Resident Representative of AKDN in Tajikistan in his welcome remarks at the graduation ceremony.
