UCA Holds Spring School to Enhance Academic Writing Skills for Japanese Researchers

Institute of Public Policy and Administration
28 June 2024

The University of Central Asia’s Institute of Public Policy and Administration (IPPA), in collaboration with Kagoshima University, Chiba University, and Oxford University, organised a Spring School for Japanese early career researchers.

The School aimed to enhance the academic writing skills and international profiles of Japanese researchers while fostering potential collaborations between universities in the UK, Japan, and Central Asia.

Dr Kemel Toktomushev, Senior Research Fellow at IPPA, shared his insights: "The session I attended focused on the challenges and opportunities of collaborative work across various positions, disciplines, affiliations, nationalities, and cultures. As a non-native English speaker, I found much to discuss and share with my Japanese colleagues." Zalina Enikeeva, Research Fellow at IPPA, also participated in this session.

Additionally, Dr Toktomushev presented a paper on the political economy of mining in Central Asia at a keynote panel of the Japanese Association for Mongolian Studies.
