Dr Aizharkyn Kozhobekova, Director of the Civil Society Initiative (CSI), University of Central Asia (UCA) Graduate School of Development, delivered a keynote speech at the Advancing Gender Equality Through Civil Society (AGECS) Global Learning Event in Mombasa, Kenya. Her address underscored the social and cultural dimensions of the opportunities and challenges faced by civil society in Central Asia. This significant gathering convened representatives from universities, researchers, and civil society organisations spanning over ten countries across Africa, Asia, Europe, and North America.

CSI representatives actively engaged in various AGECS activities, contributing insights and best practices garnered from UCA’s projects such as the School for the Advancement of Gender Equality (SAGE) and Research, Education, and Policy Analysis for Gender Equality (REPAGE). They also spearheaded learning sessions and participated in exhibitions to showcase UCA's extensive experience in promoting women's leadership and to spotlight the achievements of women leaders advancing gender equality in Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.

They provide a platform for peer support, conduct research, share knowledge, and pilot innovative projects through a small grants programme for civil society organisations, women's groups, community leaders, journalists, and bloggers in Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.
