Digital & Virtual Experiments Competition “Nomad 2024: The Infinite Sky”

The “Nomad 2024: The Infinite Sky” Festival invites artists from around the world to enter the Digital & Virtual Experiments Competition. The Competition provides a space for creative dialogues around "hypermediation" as a potent communication force permeating self-identity conceptions and cultures in the ever-expanding ENIAC galaxy we are inhibiting.

We are looking for fresh ideas from emerging talents with a passion for experimental digital and virtual storytelling. Submissions must present original productions in which multimedia/virtual narratives are constructed in a single motion frame – not on parallax scrolls. Submissions may take the format of virtual performance or storytelling, data visualisation, digital reel and simulation, or immersive exhibition in connection with the overall theme of the Festival. Submissions should be between 5 and 15 minutes in length, and suitable for presentation or performance during the Festival. Works in languages other than English should contain English subtitles.

The Competition will be curated and administered by the Communications and Media Department, School of Arts and Sciences at the University of Central Asia and the winners announced at the Festival in September 2024.

The awards will be as follows:

  • Best Experiment - 500 USD
  • Most Promising Artist - 300 USD

Important Dates:

  • Submission Deadline: July 31, 2024
  • Notification Date: August 12, 2024
  • Event Date: September 19-22, 2024
