In the Media: Young Women Take ICDL Tests in Naryn
In Naryn, Kyrgyzstan, a group of young female students will be embarking on an exciting digital learning journey with ICDL Asia and the University of Central Asia (UCA).
The School of Professional and Continuing Education (SPCE) of UCA has enrolled 24 young women of Madrasah school in Naryn to participate in the ICDL Workforce programme. They will be learning three ICDL modules, namely: Documents, Spreadsheets, and Computer and Online Essentials.
We spoke to one of the youngest and highly motivated students, Nazima Bolotova. Bolotova is an 18-year-old female student from a mountainous rural community in the Naryn region.
“I am currently a second-year student at Naryn Madrasah school. In 2022, I will have to find a job to take care of my family and siblings upon graduation. I am so grateful to be given the opportunity to enhance my digital skills,” said Bolotova.
“I aspire to be a digital native and I am confident that I will find a job with a higher salary after attending the ICDL courses provided by UCA SPCE in Naryn town,” Bolotova elaborated.
Upon completion of their modules, all 24 candidates will take the ICDL certification tests at UCA and receive a global certification of digital literacy. Having the certified ability to use devices and tools confidently and productively is an effective way for young graduates to set themselves apart from others in a competitive job search.
“The young ladies at Madrasah understand that IT and digital skills continue to be in high demand worldwide. We are glad to benefit from the ICDL courses which prepare us to be strong and successful women equipped with digital skills. We aim to create new jobs for other young men and women in the future. Thank you for providing us with the opportunity to be digitally skilled even in remote parts of the world such as Naryn town,” said Bolotova.
