UCA Concludes Digital Sustainability Training Programme

Concluding the Digital Sustainability Training Programme within the framework of “Leaders in Digital Resilience” project, the University of Central Asia’s School of Arts and Sciences held a ceremony on May 27, 2022, awarding certificates to the participants in the presence of Kutnaeva Nuria Asylbekovna, Director of the State Agency for the Protection of Personal Data under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic. The project is supported by the World Bank Korea Partnership Fund.

The Programme has an overall development goal of strengthening the ability of the Kyrgyz Republic to understand, detect, monitor and effectively respond to cyber threats and become a regional leader in digital resilience and data protection as a continuation of the Digital CASA project. The project provides high priority training programmes for government, private sector, and civil society stakeholders in the country. This Programme will form the basis for the future expansion of the initiative at the regional level by fostering collaboration with the universities in the region to provide intellectual input to the curriculum development of the proposed Central Asian Digital Resilience Academy (CADRA).

With the support of the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic, there were 99 state and municipal employees nominated for the training. Out of which, 72 participants completed the Data Privacy Module training, 55 completed the Cyber ​​Security course, and 57 finished the Business Continuity and Recovery of Operations course.

Each course lasted 15-26 hours, and the feedback received has been promising with 100% of the respondents stating that they would recommend the course to other participants. The content delivery, preparedness of the instructors, and the subject matter received an over 90% satisfaction rating.

Additionally, UCA also organised a knowledge sharing event in May 2022 with representatives from civil society and the private sectors on the topics of Cybersecurity, Data Privacy and Business Continuity. Approximately 90 representatives successfully concluded the trainings delivered by experts.

All the educational resources of this programme are available for use for personal and educational purposes, subject to attribution credit to the University of Central Asia and the World Bank, and will be soon be posted on the “Digital Resilience in Kyrgyzstan” website.
