UCA Akchasana 2024: Promoting Economic Literacy
The annual Akchasana Conference, a flagship event of UCA’s Institute of Public Policy and Administration and the Economic Fundamentals Initiative, concluded with resounding success, attracting more than 250 individuals united by a shared passion for economics, including local media influencers, students, and those interested in economics. The conference featured prominent speakers including entrepreneurs, developers, and trainers, who shared insights on economic trends and expectations for 2024.
Meerim Mambetova, a teacher of financial literacy at the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Kyrgyz Republic, expressed her enthusiasm about the event: "I gained new skills and ideas here, which I will use to teach my students using real examples of successful people."
The conference served as a platform for open discussions on crucial economic issues and provided attendees with practical insights into financial literacy. Meerim Tolepbergen, a prominent Kyrgyz blogger, addressed the pervasive challenges embedded within financial education: "Often, we are taught financial literacy incorrectly from childhood, and this is probably why we suffer from high-interest loans. Statistics show that we do not know how to deposit money correctly or how to monetize it. That’s why events like Akchasana teach us to spend our money wisely."
Emil Tursunbekov, entrepreneur and conference speaker, stated: "Akchasana is a unique event where people can find answers to their questions on financial literacy. The most important thing is that it’s all free and readily available, as our goal is enlightenment, enabling people to improve their knowledge in economics and finance and apply it to life."
Akchasana is part of the broader Economic Literacy project implemented by UCA with the support from EFI. The initiative aims to promote economic literacy in an engaging and accessible manner, addressing the misconceptions surrounding financial education.
