Ariana Sofía Argüello Cordero is a Spacecraft systems engineer and Earth Observation scientist from Costa Rica.
She made a short but very productive visit with the aim of conducting a field campaign at the Naryn River as part of the DFG project FluBig: Fluvial dynamics and biogeomorphology across multiple scales jointly with her supervisor Dr. Florian Betz and Dr. Magdalena Lauermann. The data collected will help them to study biogeomorphic interactions and better understand the complex process regimes that are crucial for the provision of ecosystem services and the functioning of river corridors, as this river is an ideal case study due to the fact that it's still free flowing with a length of more than 600 km with natural dynamics.
She completed his bachelor's degree in Rocket Complexes and Cosmonautics at the National Aerospace Research University in Samara, Russia, where also she gained fluent proficiency of the Russian language. Currently she is writing her master thesis and worked as a research assistant at the Earth Observation Research Cluster at the Julius Maximiliams University of Würzburg, Germany.
Additional to that Ariana expressed her relish for our country hospitality, its breathtaking landscapes, enriching culture and the heartfelt warm of its people.
