Malik Kotadia leads Advancement and Public Affairs at the University of Central Asia and is a member of the University’s senior leadership team.

With over two decades of leadership experience within the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) across multiple geographies, Mr Kotadia has built a distinguished record in spearheading strategic initiatives in education, culture, and development. He has successfully raised several million dollars in philanthropic and donor support and developed strategic partnerships with governments and international institutions — including a landmark public–private partnership for the establishment of a major tourist facility in the Aswan Governorate. His leadership has strengthened the Network’s relationships with local communities, donors, and the diplomatic corps.

As the Founding CEO of the Aga Khan Foundation Egypt, Mr Kotadia, in collaboration with Seneca College (Canada), launched one of the country’s foremost Continuing Education Programmes. He also oversaw the launch of a pioneering music education initiative in partnership with the Aga Khan Music Programme and the University of Alberta and led a transformative effort to enhance nursing education at Aswan University’s School of Nursing in partnership with the Aga Khan University.

Previously, as CEO of the Aga Khan Schools in India and subsequently in Uganda, he introduced institutional reforms that significantly bolstered financial sustainability and deepened engagement with parents and communities. As the Founding Director of Resource Development for the Aga Khan Schools in Asia and Africa, he established the organisation’s first fundraising framework and introduced innovative grassroots resource mobilisation practices.

Mr Kotadia has served on several boards, including the American University in Cairo’s School of Continuing Education, the Om Habibeh Foundation, and the First Microfinance Foundation Egypt, where he also chaired the Audit Committee.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in Commerce, with concentrations in Business Accounting and Industrial Psychology, from Bombay University; an MBA from the Institute of Technology and Management (India); and has completed an executive management programme at IMD, Lausanne (Switzerland).
