Anisa Abidova is a Senior Lecturer in Communications and Media at the University of Central Asia's Naryn campus, specializing in film studies. She holds an MA in Fine Arts from Warwick University and an MA in Screenwriting from the London Film School, where she received the Outstanding Screenwriting Award in 2021. Sabiri is an alumna of the Busan Asian Film Academy and EFM Toolbox-23, and is a member of Directors UK and the Documentary Association of Europe.
Her films, which explore themes of memory, have been showcased at renowned events such as the Busan International Film Festival, Dokumenta-15, BOZAR, the Asian Film Archive, Berlinale, Ji.hlava Co-Pro, Sheffield DocFest, and the Motion Picture Association Pitch. She has also served as an international jury member and guest curator at various festivals, including the Samizdat International Film Festival in Glasgow.
Her commitment to the arts extends beyond filmmaking, focusing on fostering collaborative networks across Central Asian arts, the international film industry, and education sectors. She actively participates in international forums such as the European Film Market, the Documentary Association of Europe, Doc Society, PEN, the Royal Society of Asian Affairs, the Basel Peace Forum, and UNESCO, among others
