Anisa Sabiri, a London-based Tajik writer-director, has created notable short films such as "The Crying of Tanbur" (2018) and "Rhythms of Lost Time" (2021). Her films have been screened at prestigious festivals including Busan and Berlinale. Her work is also featured in the Imago Mundi collection and the IDEAL Centre d'Arts Digitals de Barcelona. She co-wrote "Hafta," which was selected for the 60th Venice Biennale.
Sabiri has been an advocate for Central Asian cinema and has served as a juror at various film festivals. She earned an MA in Screenwriting from the London Film School, where she won the Outstanding Screenwriting Award in 2021. She is a member of Directors UK and the Documentary Association of Europe and has been a Senior Lecturer at the University of Central Asia since 2024.
