Begaiym Emileva

Begaiym Emileva is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow of the SDGnexus Network at the Graduate School of Development, a joint initiative of the University of Central Asia and the Justus-Liebig-University Giessen. She is close to completing her PhD at the Leibniz Institute of Agricultural Development in Transition Economies (IAMO) in Germany, where her PhD project focuses on “Drought Risk Perception and Adaptation in Central Asia and Mongolia”. Her work combines quantitative household survey data and weather indices using econometric models.

Before completing her PhD, she worked as a research assistant at the World Agroforestry Center (ICRAF) in Bishkek, where she supervised international interns, led data collection activities, and participated in data analysis. Her research interests lie at the intersection of climate risks, livestock systems, agriculture, migration, and poverty, with a strong emphasis on quantitative research methods to study these interrelated issues.

Begaiym holds a Master of Science degree in Agricultural Sciences from Szent István University in Budapest, Hungary and a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Sciences from Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University.
