Nurzhan Alymkanova is a psychologist with five years of experience in individual and group counselling, as well as designing and leading programmes for mental health and psychosocial support in Kyrgyz, Russian, and English, both online and in person. She has been a psychology lecturer at the American University of Central Asia since 2023. 

She has collaborated with the Delegation of the European Union to the Kyrgyz Republic, a municipal shelter for domestic violence victims in Bishkek, a public school in Kant, the Media Policy Institute, and the Centre for Psychological Support at AUCA. 

Nurzhan has extensive experience in mass media and communications, including work with TV, newsletters, Kumtor Gold Company, and UNDP Kyrgyzstan. She also led the Bishkek Toastmasters Club for five years, a branch of the USA-based Toastmasters International, a club for leadership and public speaking. She later founded the Bal Til Club for Kyrgyz speakers. In 2020, she brought together birdwatchers to form the nonprofit organization OSKG.  

Nurzhan studied journalism at Bishkek State University (formerly Bishkek Humanities University) and holds an MA in Applied Psychology from the American University of Central Asia.
