UCA’s SPCE Participates in Pamir Invest 2024 Forum in Khorog
The University of Central Asia’s (UCA) School of Professional and Continuing Education (SPCE) was invited as a special partner by the GBAO governorate to participate in the International Investment Forum “Pamir Invest 2024”, an annual event that gathers investors, entrepreneurs, and key stakeholders to discuss socio-economic development initiatives in Tajikistan’s Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO). This year’s forum brought together over 250 guests, including representatives from all banking institutions of Tajikistan, successful entrepreneurs, international organizations, and the media.
The forum, held in Khorog, was marked by a plenary session focused on enhancing financial literacy among the population—a critical factor in driving economic growth and stability. Farrukhruz Mamadaliev, a graduate of UCA’s School of Professional and Continuing Education and the Director of the Scientific Research Institute of the National Bank of Tajikistan, opened the session by emphasizing the importance of educating the public on banking services, credit resources, digital opportunities, and money transfers. He highlighted the Tajik government’s commitment to increasing financial literacy through various strategies and regulations.
During the plenary session, Gulsha Jumakhonov, UCA SPCE’s Khorog Centre for Entrepreneurship’s (KCE) Coordinator, delivered a presentation on “Enhancing Entrepreneurs’ Financial Literacy in Investments”.
The success of business goals and the overall economic development of Tajikistan are closely linked to the financial literacy of entrepreneurs. Since 2006, UCA’s SPCE has been actively involved in improving the financial literacy of both the general population and entrepreneurs through a variety of initiatives.
Over 1,700 entrepreneurs have been trained in business planning, the effective use of monetary resources, and investment strategies. Additionally, the SPCE’s successful Certification Programme in Accounting Technology has trained around 5,000 specialists in International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), who are now contributing to the development of the business sector both within Tajikistan and beyond. As part of the annual Global Money Week events, SPCE holds a variety of activities for more than 300 participants, including preschoolers, schoolchildren, students, entrepreneurs, and the general population, emphasizing the importance of financial literacy from an early age.
Moreover, SPCE KCE’s Digital Lab has provided essential tools and training for small and medium-sized businesses, enabling them to leverage digital platforms for business promotion. Through business planning certification courses, which cover more than 10 training modules, SPCE aims to train entrepreneurs at the start-up level and in small and medium-sized businesses. Local farmers have also benefited from SPCE’s targeted training modules, learning to improve their business management skills, including record-keeping, production cost calculations, and more.
