Dr Lutfi Rahimi brings extensive experience in research, policy, and academic leadership. He has worked in the UK civil service as an economist, leading appraisals of multi-million-pound enhancement projects and producing analytical outputs for evidence-based decision-making.

He has also been a researcher and Non-Resident Research Fellow at the Afghanistan Research Initiative (ARI), where he conducted research on Afghanistan, focusing on institutional analysis of economic intervention and development post-2001. As an Assistant Professor of Economics at the American University of Afghanistan, he taught and delivered undergraduate and MBA courses. Additionally, as Head of Research and Economist at the Biruni Institute for Economic and Policy Studies in Kabul, he led applied research on trade, regional connectivity, and inclusive growth for stakeholders including the ADB, The World Bank, USAID, and UN agencies.

Dr Rahimi holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Exeter, UK, and brings expertise in development economics, policy analysis, and international research collaboration.
