Dr Saltanat Mambetova is an Assistant Professor in Earth and Environmental Sciences at UCA's School of Arts and Sciences. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Agronomy from Kyrgyz Agrarian University (2011), as well as a Master of Science in Crop and Soil Sciences (2014) and a PhD in Plant Pathology (2018) from Michigan State University (MSU) in the United States.
Prior to joining UCA, Dr. Mambetova was with MSU for 8 years. After earning her PhD, she completed postdoctoral research for one year at MSU. Her research interests are in agriculture, including food security, integrated pest management, agricultural biotechnology, and agricultural technologies. While at MSU, she was actively engaged in collaborative programmes between MSU and Kyrgyzstan, working to build a cultural and agricultural technology bridge to Central Asia. Dr Mambetova has also played a leadership role in transferring potato varieties, and testing them in different geographic regions of Kyrgyzstan. She has written and co-authored several peer-reviewed journal articles.
