Student Research Poster Competition

Institute of Public Policy and Administration
17 July 2023

We are delighted to announce the Student Research Poster Competition as part of the upcoming 'Life in Kyrgyzstan' Conference, to be held on 11 – 12 October 2023 in Bishkek. The poster competition provides an exciting opportunity for talented students to showcase the research they have done for their theses or other project work. The poster should be related to the conference theme of ‘Life in Kyrgyzstan’ and engage with scholarly and developmental discussions in social sciences, environmental sciences or the humanities.

Eligibility: All BA and MA students of any Central Asian university[1] are invited to submit proposals for posters showcasing their theses or research works for consideration.

Submission Process: Interested students must submit their abstract electronically to likconference2023@gmail.com no later than 31 July 2023. In your submission please provide your name with affiliation, the title of your work along with 200 words abstract for your paper in English.

Finalists Selection: A panel of experts will review the submissions and select up to approximately 10 finalists based on the quality and relevance of their research. The selected finalists will be notified via email by the 15 August 2023 and will be invited to develop the full poster submission.

Poster Design: Once selected, the finalists will be required to design an innovative, creative research poster based on their papers. A template will be provided by the organizing committee, and the posters will be printed by us. Finalists must submit their poster designs by 15 September 2023.

Conference Presentation: Finalists are expected to attend the 'Life in Kyrgyzstan' Conference in person on Day 1 (11 October). The posters will be prominently displayed on the walls of a large room from the morning. Finalists will present their posters during the coffee breaks and lunchtime, giving a brief oral presentation of approximately 2-3 minutes.

Evaluation and Judging: A committee of experts will assess the finalists' papers, poster designs, and oral presentations. The evaluation will consider the three aspects with weights to be defined. Additionally, the audience will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite posters using Google Forms. The final scores will be based on the combined assessment and audience voting. The evaluation process will be completed before the end of Day 1.

Prizes: The prize is between 100 and 200 USD. There will be three prizes awarded to the most outstanding presentations.

Announcement and Award Ceremony: The competition results and prize awards will be announced before or during the conference reception.

We encourage all eligible students to participate in this exciting competition, showcasing their research and engaging in fruitful discussions with experts and peers. This is an excellent opportunity to gain recognition for your work and contribute to the vibrant academic atmosphere of the 'Life in Kyrgyzstan' Conference.
