The anthology was prepared within the framework of the project “Advancing Gender Equality through Civil Society” (AGECS), a component of the “Foundations for Health and Empowerment” (F4HE) program—an initiative of the Aga Khan Foundation Canada in partnership with the Government of Canada. The anthology seeks to provide a comprehensive overview of the social and cultural history, identities, and everyday lives of women in Central Asia. It highlights the key role women play in the social and cultural development of the region. The publication serves as an inclusive platform for local and international researchers, as well as bearers of traditional knowledge. It creates a space in which the voices and stories of Central Asian women can be heard, recognized, and duly valued. The anthology stands as a testament to the richness and diversity of voices and perspectives within Central Asia. Its contributors include journalists, scholars, traditional practitioners, and women activists, ensuring a multifaceted and in-depth exploration of women’s lives in the region.
