Urban Resilience: From Knowledge to Practice

The Certificate Program in Urban Resilience (CPUR) was designed and implemented by the Graduate School of Development of UCA under the NURP. The programme was established to strengthen the capacity of local leaders and professionals to address the growing challenges facing Naryn, including climate change, water scarcity, rapid urbanisation, and limited municipal resources. Unlike traditional classroom-based training, CPUR was developed as a practice-oriented executive education programme that links learning directly to real urban challenges. To date, more than 40 representatives from local government, public institutions, academia, and the private sector have completed 17 applied modules covering economic, environmental, socioeconomic, cultural, civic, and urban resilience. Through a combination of professional training, practical assignments, and community-based initiatives, CPUR equips participants with the knowledge and skills to develop innovative solutions that contribute to Naryn's long-term resilience, sustainability, and inclusive development.
