UCA Leads Training Programme for Teachers in Bokhtar, Tajikistan
UCAs’ Centre for Teaching, Learning, and Technology (CTLT) co-facilitated a training programme at the School of Professional and Continuing Education (SPCE) in Bokhtar, Tajikistan. The programme was aimed at English instructors teaching students in grades 5–11 and was supported by the English Without Borders initiative. The training focused on equipping teachers with effective low-resource teaching strategies, emphasising the importance of designing learning outcomes and using backward design in lesson planning. Participants were also introduced to educational taxonomies, the ICAP framework, and active learning strategies.
The training was grounded in microteaching techniques, giving participants hands-on experience to enhance their instructional skills. The approach emphasised the importance of planning with the end in mind, ensuring that in resource- and time-constrained environments, educators focus on maximising student learning outcomes by fostering discovery and engagement, rather than merely covering content.
