UCA and CAREC Institute Strengthen Cooperation on Research and Regional Development
The University of Central Asia (UCA) and the Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation Institute (CAREC Institute) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen collaboration in research, knowledge sharing, academic and policy dialogue, and capacity building across the CAREC region.
The MoU was signed by UCA Rector Professor Christopher J. Gerry and CAREC Institute Director Mr Charymuhammet Shallyyev during the 10th CAREC Think Tank Development Forum in Tashkent, which brought together policymakers, researchers and regional think tanks to discuss sustainable economic development and regional cooperation.
The agreement establishes a framework for joint research and publications, academic and expert exchange, capacity-building initiatives, and the co-organisation of conferences, seminars, workshops and policy dialogues focused on economic development and regional integration.
Through the partnership, UCA and the CAREC Institute will combine their expertise to generate policy-relevant research and strengthen evidence-based dialogue on shared regional priorities.
As part of the Forum, Professor Christopher J. Gerry also moderated the session “Digital Finance and Fintech: Scaling Innovation Responsibly,” bringing together regional and international experts to discuss the opportunities and challenges of digital financial services, fintech innovation, regulation and financial stability.
The Forum provided an important platform for advancing dialogue between universities, think tanks and policymakers on the future of regional economic cooperation.
The signing of the MoU marks another step in UCA’s commitment to expanding research collaboration, knowledge exchange and regional policy dialogue in support of sustainable development and shared prosperity across Central Asia.
