UCA Strengthens AI and Digital Innovation in Tajikistan with New Laboratory at Khorog State University
The University of Central Asia (UCA), in partnership with Khorog State University, officially inaugurated a new Artificial Intelligence (AI) Laboratory in Khorog, marking another milestone in UCA’s ongoing support for digital innovation and higher education development in Tajikistan.
The laboratory was launched through UCA’s Mountain Universities Partnership (MUP) Programme and aligns with Tajikistan’s national “Years of Digital Economy and Innovation 2025–2030”. The inauguration ceremony was attended by GBAO Governor Mirzonabot Alisher Khudoberdi and KSU Rector Komilbek Amid Yorbek.
While KSU led the renovation of the facility, UCA’s MUP Programme equipped the laboratory with advanced technical infrastructure, including ten high-performance workstations. Additional funding secured through an international alumni grant enabled the laboratory to be fully furnished and operational.
The new AI Lab will support training and practical research in artificial intelligence, machine learning, and digital technologies for students and faculty in the region.
The laboratory is part of UCA’s broader support to KSU through the MUP Programme. According to MUP Programme Coordinator Aliyor Marodaseynov, since its inception in July 2025, UCA’s MUP Programme has established eight learning centres at KSU, including the newly inaugurated AI Laboratory, while also supporting the development of four undergraduate curricula, the delivery of two certificate programmes, and numerous capacity-building trainings and exchange initiatives.
Dr Niyozi Sirojiddin, Director of the Institute of Education Development under Tajikistan’s Ministry of Education and Science, praised the AI Laboratory and acknowledged UCA’s contribution to strengthening modern higher education infrastructure and preparing future specialists equipped with digital and innovation skills.
