Ali Rehman, UCA's Director of Internal Audit, Nominated for Prestigious SERD Sustainability Award 2024
Dr Ali Rehman, Director of Internal Audit, UCA has been nominated for the prestigious SERD Sustainability Award – 2024 in the category of Industrial Development and Sustainable Cities and Communities (SDG 9 & SDG 11) for his research work in the past and current year.
The SERD (Society of Education and Research Development) recognises outstanding contributions and achievements in various fields that significantly impact sustainable development. Award nominations are invited from organisational leaders, researchers, academicians, or practitioners who demonstrate creative potential and whose work is well-documented and verifiable. The rigorous selection process underscores the honor of being considered for such an award. The award ceremony for SERD Sustainability Awards – 2024 will be held at the inaugural session of the CSR 2024 Conference on 10 June in Indonesia.

Dr Ali Rehman has held senior audit positions in the higher education sector in Kazakhstan and Gulf countries, for the past 13 years. Prior to joining UCA, Ali served as Director of Internal Audit at A’Sharqiyah University, Oman, where he played a key role in developing the internal audit function. His successful track record includes revamping and strengthening controls, reorganizing processes, and simplifying procedures to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of academic, financial, and operational procedures. Moreover, he is proficient in ERP systems and was instrumental in its successful implementation at A’Sharqiyah University.
Ali has a PhD in Risk and Governance from the University Sains Malaysia and an MSc in Audit Management and Consultancy from Birmingham City University. As an experienced auditor, he holds important certifications, including FCMA and CGMA for Finance and Accounts, as well as CIA and CRMA for Audit and Risk.
