Empowering Afghan Women through Education

School of Professional and Continuing Education
6 May 2024

UCA’s School of Professional and Continuing Education (SPCE) in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan hosted a virtual Graduation Ceremony for eight young female Afghan learners who successfully completed ICT and English language courses in April 2024.

Despite travel restrictions and challenges of online learning, the learners displayed unwavering perseverance and commitment to their studies. Over a year, they diligently completed the Conversational English programme and undertook classes on the International Computer Driving Licence (ICDL), Python, Cyber Security, and Coding. The students were presented with digital certificates of achievement during the Graduation Ceremony.

Representatives from the EU Delegation to the Kyrgyz Republic, UNDP, and UCA as well as SPCE staff in Kyrgyzstan and Afghanistan extended their congratulations to the students and expressed their wishes for their continued success and educational pursuits.

This learning opportunity was made possible thanks to the project "Supporting the Economic Empowerment of Afghan Women through Education and Training in Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Kyrgyzstan" funded by the European Commission in collaboration with UNDP.
