
Kyrgyzstan Selects Finalists for the National Round of the International Economics Olympiad
The Institute of Public Policy and Administration (IPPA), a unit of the University of Central Asia’s Graduate School of Development, organises an annual International Economics Olympiad to promote awareness of economics and finance in everyday life, to help young participants develop their critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills and provide Kyrgyzstan’s most promising students a platform to shine internationally.
The Economics Olympiad is organised with the support and funding of the Economic Fundamentals Initiative (EFI) and has proven to be a life-changing experience for its participants. The Olympiad . Rysbaeva Aiturgan, a participant stated: “I had the chance to hear advice and mentorship from inspiring individuals. I’m also thankful to the selection committee for their fair and objective evaluation. This was a truly motivating and enriching experience.”“During my preparation for the Olympiad, I not only expanded my knowledge of economics, but I also gained invaluable experience that will stay with me for life,” said Aga-Khan Yusupjanov, another participant. “Before, my understanding was quite basic, but now I understand both theory and practical applications. I’ve started to view everyday life through the lens of economic science.”
The National Round of the International Economics Olympiad 2025 has officially concluded with the selection of the top 10 finalists. The national round was attended by several distinguished guests who congratulated the participants and delivered inspirational speeches. The speakers included: g Kubanych Musuraliev, Head of the Financial Literacy Department at the National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic; Kadyrbek Sultakeev, EO Examination Commission Member; Meerim Tolepbergen, blogger and influencer, and UCA’s Dr Kemel Toktomushev, who spoke about financial literacy.
The 10 exceptional students selected as the national finalists demonstrated their strong knowledge of economics and financial literacy. All ten finalists will take part in regional training sessions in Almaty, where they will engage with fellow participants from Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. The top five will represent Kyrgyzstan at the International Economics Olympiad final in Greece this August.
