UCA Strengthens Gender Education in Central Asia through Innovative Teaching Tools
The University of Central Asia (UCA) hosted a regional training workshop in Bishkek and Dushanbe dedicated to advancing gender education across Central Asia. The event brought together researchers, university lecturers, gender experts, and community leaders to explore practical ways to integrate the "Women in Central Asia" anthology and its conceptual guide into higher education curricula.
The training was designed to bridge the gap between academic research and classroom reality. The sessions introduced the anthology as a foundational resource for regional studies, demonstrating how both the text and the conceptual guide serve as essential handbooks for designing seminar plans, training modules, and academic writing courses.
Nazgul Bakirova, an Associate Professor at Osh Technological University, emphasised the value added by these intellectual products, noting that the anthology can be used across any field of teaching to strengthen gender equality. She noted that the conceptual guide serves as a vital methodological resource for developing seminar plans and supporting the teaching. Furthermore, the materials were identified as vital methodological resources for developing seminar plans and training programs for civil servants, highlighting their versatility in both academic and professional settings.
A highlight of the program was the exploration of modern technology in education. Experts demonstrated how teachers can use Machine Learning (AI) to develop inclusive syllabi and interactive lessons. The session focused on project-based learning, showing educators how to leverage AI to create more engaging and equitable classroom environments.
Beyond the classroom, participants expressed interest in adapting these materials for intergenerational programs involving both parents and children, demonstrating the broad social reach of UCA's pedagogical initiatives. By providing educators with the specific skills needed to translate gender theory into actionable teaching methods, UCA contributes to the regional effort to empower women and girls.
