UCA Hosts Model United Nations Conference 2025, Bringing Together Students from Across the Region
The University of Central Asia’s Naryn Campus welcomed more than 50 students for the UCA Model United Nations (MUN) Conference 2025. Delegates from Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Russia, and Afghanistan spent three days debating global issues, developing resolutions, and gaining practical experience in diplomacy and international dialogue.
This year’s conference expanded on UCA’s earlier MUN initiatives, strengthening the University’s vision of cross-border collaboration. Students took part in committee sessions, including the General Assembly, UNESCO, Conference of the Parties (COP), and the UN Security Council, and produced four resolutions reflecting their understanding of international affairs and negotiation processes.
According to Laiba Ali, UCA student and lead organiser of UCAMUN 2025, the conference was “a celebration of youth leadership and global citizenship,” marking the start of what is planned to become an annual tradition at UCA.
Beyond academic learning, students strengthened essential skills in research, negotiation, public speaking, and intercultural communication. An interactive social night added to the experience, offering opportunities to build friendships, share cultures, and connect with peers from across the region
Aliya Erdavlatova from Bishkek shared that the conference helped her become more confident and curious about global issues:
“UCAMUN helped me better understand international debates and pushed me to step out of my comfort zone. I enjoyed learning about different cultures, visiting UCA, and meeting so many interesting people. It reminded me how important it is to think critically, stay informed, and believe that every voice can make a difference.”
Yerkezhan Abdieva from Kazakhstan, a first-year Media and Communications student at UCA, reflected on her first-ever MUN:
“Taking part in UCAMUN motivated me to continue growing in this field. I’m pleased to have met so many thoughtful and driven participants.”
UCA plans to further grow the initiative in the coming years, expanding participation, offering preparatory workshops, and engaging more schools and universities across the region.
